Minister Carey appoints Steering Group on Active Citizenship
Active Citizenship Steering Group Membership announced
Minister Pat Carey today announced the membership of the Steering Group on Active Citizenship saying that it will act “as a broad based group which will assist and advise on how best Irish communities and our society can be strengthened in the years ahead.”
The members of the Steering Group are:

·Gerry Kearney, Department of Community, Rural & Gaeltacht Affairs
·Mary Cunningham, National Youth Council of Ireland
·Tony Kennedy, Co-operation Ireland
·Sr. Bernadette MacMahon, Vincentian Partnership for Social Justice
·Mary Nally, The Third Age Foundation
·Colin McCrea, Atlantic Philanthropies
·Joyce O’Connor, Digital Hub Development Agency
·Conor Harrison, CSPE National Co-ordinator, Curriculum Development Unit
·Karin Dubsky, Coastwatch Ireland
·Paraic Duffy, GAA
·Joe Allen, Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government
Speaking in the Dáil, Minister Carey said, “The Government remains committed to strengthening community activity and increasing civic engagement across all sectors of society in order to develop a nation of diversity with a sense of shared values, of belonging in the community and of pride of place in our towns and townlands.”
